About the Event

A Magical
Community Art Event

Twenty Vancouver schools are creating fairy garden art installations, which will be unveiled in a first-of-its-kind exhibition at the stunning VanDusen Botanical Garden Great Hall. The installations will be judged by children from BC Children’s Hospital, with visitors also invited to vote for their favourite for the People’s Choice Award.

Fairy performers, live animals, hands-on arts & crafts, a Fairy High Tea Reception, and a live performance by Vancouver's beloved Oh Clementine make this a day of pure magic for families, children, and the wider community.

An exclusive welcome for participating school teams, student artists, and families from BC Children's Hospital. By invitation only.
Private Reception Experience
☕ High Tea, Animals & Crafts
Fairy High Tea, award ceremony, fairy wing & wand decorating, live owls, a bunny petting area, performance from Oh Clementine and a silent art auction.

🎉 Doors Open to the Public
The gates open for everyone, by donation to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (minimum $10 per person)! Explore 20 magical fairy garden installations, meet fairy performers, visit the live animals, and be part of something truly special.

Vancouver's favourite kids' band performs live — entrance with donation to BC Children's Hospital Foundation (minimum $10 per person).

How Schools Join the Trail

Twenty schools from across Vancouver each receive a School Participation Kit — everything they need to bring their fairy garden vision to life with creativity, sustainability, and heart.

Three Castle Bases
Each school receives three wooden fairy castle bases, along with a cardboard foundation that sets the size and footprint for their installation.

Each school selects their own fairy garden theme and brings it to life creatively.

$50 Michaels Gift Card
Every participating school receives a $50 Michaels gift card to purchase decoration supplies.

Sustainable Materials
Beyond the card, students use recycled or natural materials — creativity and sustainability go hand in hand.

Fairy Garden Installations
Twenty Vancouver schools each create a unique fairy garden — a trail of wonder winding through the BMO Great Hall at VanDusen. Private Reception: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Open to the Public: 12:15 PM – 4:00 PM

Fairy Performer
An enchanting fairy performer will roam the event from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, bringing magic to life for children of all ages.

Oh Clementine Live
Vancouver’s beloved kids’ band performs live from 11:00 AM – 11:45 PM during the private reception and again from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM for the public — entrance with donations supporting BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (minimum $10 per person).

A truly unforgettable encounter — meet an owl up close, creating memories the whole family will treasure. Private Reception: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Public Encounter: 12:15 PM – 1:30 PM.

Bunny Petting Area
Soft, gentle, and adorable — children can visit and cuddle our fluffy bunny friends in their fairy-garden setting from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM during the private reception, and from 12:15 PM – 1:30 PM when the event opens to the public.

Arts & Crafts Keepsakes
Children can decorate their own fairy wings and wand to take home as a magical keepsake.

Fairy High Tea
An enchanting high tea in the BMO Great Hall — the perfect way to pause, sip, and savour the magic. (Private Reception | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Silent Art Auction
Eight Vancouver artists have painted original fairy doors — beautifully framed and available for bidding all day.

Awards Ceremony
The BCCHF Judges’ Award — chosen by children from BC Children’s Hospital — will be presented during a heartfelt ceremony at the private reception (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM). Visitors throughout the day will then be invited to vote for their favourite installation for the People’s Choice Award.
